April blog hop!

Welcome to this month’s blog hop with Di's Country Inkers!  And happy April Fool's Day!!

Our theme for this blog hop are the colors in It's My Party paper pack - Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, and Mint Macaron.  Here is my card:

I based my inspiration on the card on p. 77 of  Stampin’ Up’s current catalog.  I changed a few details on the card which included using a different embossing folder since I didn’t have the Elegant Dots (I used Boho Chic), colored rhinestones, and a ribbon in linen thread. The stamp set/framelits die used were the Flower Patch and Flower Fair, which made it sooooo much easier to cut out the pretty flowers and leaves. How spoiled we are now with framelits diecuts and don’t have to fussy cut all the details!

Here are a few more pictures of the details in my card:

You can purchase all of the Stampin’ Up products used in my online store (inkpad colors used were cherry cobbler, watermelon wonder, Dijon, mint, rose red, expresso, and soft suede, along with crumb and vanilla cardstock).
If you ever get stuck for a design with your Stampin’ Up projects, just flip through the catalog(s) for great ideas!

The next blog you will hop to is Diana's.
Enjoy her fun project and the rest of the bloggers' designs as well, and thanks for stopping by!

Thank you cards

Lately I have been busy making more thank you cards.  I saw this card in yellow tones in the recent Stampin' Success magazine, which demonstrators receive; see the picture below.  I changed up a few elements of the card and added a bow paperclip.

This card uses scrap pieces of Stampin' Up watermelon wonder ribbon and lace along with the rose wonder framelit and it is a lot easier to cut it out with the diecut!  I used Wink of Stella on the greeting and rose center to add a subtle shimmer:

Here is another thank you card I made with pool party and the World of Thanks stamp.

This stamp is only one stamp and it looks impressive when made up!  I got this idea from p. 15 of the Stampin' Up annual catalog - when I saw the card on p. 15 I fell in love with it so was glad to have the opportunity to made it up myself!

I used 3 flower punches by Stampin' Up to make the beautiful flower:

Since I am making wedding thank you cards for my son's wedding next month, I used this stamp again, but in the wedding theme's colors, purple, gold, and white.  I mixed and matched Stampin' Up products with some other ones I had gotten when I found out the wedding colors.

Since my son has a cat I had to use the cats wedding stamp I found!

In addition to using purple envelopes I used Wink of Stella in gold to embellish the cats and card.  I also punched out little purple hearts...

So I have been busy making 30 wedding thank you cards!  And I am thankful that Stampin' Up includes lots of great card designs in their catalogs!!  If you join Stampin' Up as one of my demonstrators, you will have access to even more exclusive card designs...:-)

Clog dancer card

I started clog dancing about 4+ years ago and this was my third year dancing with a team. It is great exercise!! Clogging is a type of folk dance rooted in traditional European dancing from the British Isles, in which the dancer's footwear is used musically by striking the heel, the toe, or both in unison against a floor or each other to create audible percussive rhythms. Clog is from a Gaelic word meaning "time."

Clogging was social dance in the Appalachian Mountains as early as the 1700's. As the clogging style has migrated over the years, many localities have made contributions by adding local steps and rhythms to the style. Welsh seamen appear to have adopted the dance very early on and may have been those who introduced it to the British Isles. As the dance migrated to England in the 1400s, the all wooden clog was replaced by a leather topped shoe with a one piece wooden bottom. By the 1500s, a more conventional leather shoe with separate wooden pieces on the heel and toe called "flats" became popular, from where the terms "heel and toe" and "flat footing" derive.

In later periods it was not always called "clogging", being known variously as flat-footing, foot-stomping, buck dancing, clog dancing, jigging, or other local terms. What all these had in common was emphasizing the downbeat of the music by enthusiastic footwork.  We have fun making noise with our feet lol!

I also help with the costumes and after we have our performances, I make up a card with a clog dancer on it for our director.  The dancer is dressed in the same fabric and costume that we wear.  She enjoys getting these cards and saves them so she has a fun memento of our costumes!

Here are a few more pictures of my clog dancer and our outfits:

We had little bows on our shoes, black panne velvet flippy skirts, and sparkly turquoise tops with black sequin trim.  Also we had turquoise/black neckbands, bracelets, and turquoise earrings (I forgot to put the earrings on my dancer!).

Along with my Stampin' Up products, I used a Prima doll stamp - I just love those stamps!  Sorry these pictures are not as clear as they could be; I finished the dancer up late at night so my eyes were a little tired and not completely recovered from that flu bug.

Update on last 2 weeks! Wedding thank you cards in purple...

 Hello!!
Gee I can't believe it has been a while since I shared my projects, but I came down with the flu that is going around....ugh.  But I had some fun designing some thank you cards for my son's upcoming wedding.  I really liked that their color is purple, as it is my favorite color!  Here is one of the thank you cards I came up with:

Here is another card I am making for their thank you cards:

I will be making up about 10 of each card and putting purple envelopes with the cards - how great that these cards will match their wedding colors - purple and gold!  How many of you card makers out there have made up thank you cards for someone else's special events?

March blog hop!

Welcome to this month’s blog hop with Di's Country Inkers!
Our theme for this blog hop is Case the catty. This means we pick out a project in one of the Stampin’ Up catalogs and then “case” it (Copy And Share Everything). Here is the card that I came up with:

I chose the bag on p. 34 of the Occasions mini-catalog and turned it into a card.  Here is what the bag looks like:

I knew I wanted to send my card to my mother on Mother’s Day, and since pink is her favorite color, I used a different paper from the Have a Cuppa designer series pack stack – one that has pink in it, of course.

Because her card will be going in the mail, I eliminated the spoon and tiny tag embellishment at the top.

To add some subtle bling that was mail-friendly, I added a few clear sequins above the pool party teacup.

You can purchase all of the Stampin’ Up products used in my online store (A Nice Cuppa stamp set, Cup & Kettle framelits, Bermuda bay stitched ribbon, crumb cardstock, doilies).

If you ever get stuck for a design with your Stampin’ Up projects, just flip through the catalog(s) for great ideas!
