Swap card and easy variations with thinlit diecuts - so versatile & fun!

Stampin' Up has been offering "thinlits dies" - they are cut out with a Big Shot, etc. and you get a set of three that say "thankful, merry, love."  They are even more intricate cuts and detailed designs that haven't been offered before. These dies are great to use to cut out words as an embellishment on projects, or use the negative space to add layers and interest to your cards or scrapbook pages.  I wanted to use the Merry one for a Christmas swap card - they are so pretty!  Here is a video on how you cut them:  http://youtu.be/DPvm_DbMP3Q (3 min.).

Since they are delicate, it takes a little more work to carefully remove it from the diecut..."Paper will stick to die after cutting. Push Paper-Piercing Tool through holes in die to remove paper."  Since I needed to make 30 swaps I knew that would take more time than I had, so I decided to use the Merry as a stencil - it came out great!

Because I had cut the Merry diecut out of cardstock, I was able to use this stencil for all 30 cards before it started to show some wear!  I used 3 different colors:  coastal cabana, cherry cobbler, and gumball green, as I was going to use those colors of the Coredinations cardstock on the cards.  I stenciled some in silver as well with the sponge daubers...

Here is the assortment of Christmas swap cards I did using the Merry stencil:

Here are a few more pictures I took of how these cards were made:

The stamp-a-ma-jig is essential to get the wreaths stamped perfectly for all 30 cards!

Cherry cobbler, gumball green, and pool party coredinations paper...

I used the new silver foil paper that is in Stampin' Up's holiday catalog for the little leaves, and silver ribbon.  (the punch is from the bird punch)

I added a little rhinestone in the "e" and silver sparkle dazzling details glitter adhesive in the wreath and around the Merry (also the Gorgeous Grunge dots in silver at the top).

Wouldn't these be pretty in other color combinations?   Like purples, pinks, gold, etc.?!  Once you have your stencil diecut, it can be used for lots of other fun projects!  How cute would these cards be with an envelope with a matching envelope liner?

Stampin' Up now has a diecut to do that, and even will be having an envelope board, so you can make perfectly matching envelopes!  If you can't wait for the envelope board, you can buy and instantly download an envelope to print off your computer, so you will have it forever:

You can get all the supplies for this project in my Stampin' Up online store - just give me a holler, OK?
