A card for clog dancers

One of my other favorite other hobbies besides cardmaking is clog dancing.  I was asked to make a card for one of our club members so I designed the card based on our clogging "uniforms."  I used retired Stampin' Up items to coordinate with the colors.  One of the Prima doll stamps by Julie Nutting was my basic design stamp.

Clog dancing is such great aerobic activity and easy to pick up, not to mention how much fun to do the dances to all types of music and the other cloggers you get to meet.  "Clogging" is also known as flat-footing, foot-stomping, buck dancing, clog dancing, jigging, or other local terms.

Clogging is a type of folk dance rooted in traditional European dancing from the British Isles, in which the dancer's footwear is used musically by striking the heel, the toe, or both in unison against a floor or each other to create audible percussive rhythms. Clog is from a Gaelic word meaning "time."  Clogging was social dance in the Appalachian Mountains as early as the 1700's. As the clogging style has migrated over the years, many localities have made contributions by adding local steps and rhythms to the style.
Clogging is a dance style that is accentuated by the type of shoes that are worn during the dance. The shoes are used to make a loud percussion noise with the toe or heel or in some cases both the toe and heel to make a rhythm. This rhythm or beat is often compared to the sounds that percussion instruments make and is the basis of clogging.

If you are in the Mesa, Arizona area you can find out more about joining us on Thursday afternoons at this website:   www.letsdoclogging.com      There are some videos of clogging steps and other clog dancing classes and events as well at this website.  BTW, here is the full clogger card I made!
