Windmill card and Stampin' Up current/retired items

Like many other people who like Stampin' Up, it's always a little sad to see some of the things that retire...good thing there are always lots of new, fun items that come out right after the retiring lists get posted!  One color I loved that is now retired is bashful blue, so I had quite a bit of it and thought I would use it the cardstock, the retired Not quite navy cardstock, and some retired Stampin' Up designer paper.  Sometimes there are non-Stampin' Up items you just have to get and this windmill die and embossing folder were some of them - they just fit the clog dancing I started up last year...although we don't actually wear the dutch wooden clogging shoes; that's a different, but similar type of clog dancing.  The clog dancing I have been doing started in the Appalachians, and buck dancing and flatfooting are variations of it.

The hardest part of this diecut was poking out all those little holes in the fins of the windmill!  I used a retired Stampin' Up brad and popped the windmill up with dimensionals.  Do  you want to see the rest of the card?  Here it is:

I put the diecut windmill over the top of the windmill that was on this embossing folder!  Doesn't the retired Stampin' Up filligree frad look pretty on the windmill?  The glittery paper is non-Stampin' Up and I wasn't sure the embossing folder would take out well with this glittery paper.  I do like shiny and glittery things!  Here are a  couple different angles where you can see the glitter.

I used the current Stampin' Up mini-flowers punch and pearls down in the corner.  Little flowers and pearls add a great touch to projects, don't they?  I think the Stampin' Up pearls adhere so well too; I have never had them fall off, like some other pearls do.

We will be making this card in the community stamping club I belong to, but I know this card's ideas could easily be used to make it with all current Stampin' Up items and a few changes.  Stampin' Up now has lots of colors in the coredinations paper that can be embossed and then sanded to bring out the raised edges and you could dab glitter or illuminate ink on it...hmmm, will have to try that soon!

I would be glad to help you with planning a card similar to this with current Stampin' Up items that you could order from me or have a private cardmaking class with some of friends and you might even get some free products as the hostess!
Send me an email or give me a call if you are interested, OK?
