Mother's Day project - a gift box and matching card

A fun gift project you can make using Stampin' Up items!

Mother's Day is just around the corner!  I wanted to share a great idea that was posted on the demonstrators' section of Stampin' Up that I thought would give you both a gift bag for your mother's day gift and a matching card!  You can buy these supplies in my online store now and get those that you need to make this project....then you can change the colors  to use them for other occasions (birthdays, Father's Day, etc.).  With this project you even color your tissue paper to match and it really makes the gift pop, don't you think?  I just love products that you can reuse over and over just by changing the colors and theme!

Stampin' Up Products used:
Stamps:  Friendly Phrases Stamp Set; Oh, Hello Stamp Set
(#130733, $18.95 clear acrylic stamps)

Paper:  Pool Party Cardstock; Whisper White Cardstock
Ink:  Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad; Summer Starfruit Classic Stampin' Pad
Accessories & Tools:  Whisper White Baker's Twine; Brights Designer Buttons; Big Shot; Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die; Floral Frames Framelits Dies; Brayer; White tissue paper and Craft stick

  Instructions to make the box:
  1. Cut a box from Whisper White Cardstock using the Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die.  (#115965, $39.95 - on the retiring list so get yours now)
  2. Cut out a flower from a piece of copy paper using the Floral Frames Framelits Dies.  (#127012, $26.95)
  3. Position the negative image over the front panel of the box, and stamp the chevron image in Summer Starfruit ink.
  4. Assemble the box.
  5. Thread Whisper White Baker's Twine through the holes of the button and tie a bow. Adhere the button to the center of the chevron flower.
  6. Stamp "Here's to you" in Basic Gray ink on the Pool Party Cardstock. Cut out the greeting in a banner shape and adhere it to the craft stick.
  7. Color the tissue paper with Summer Starfruit ink using the Brayer.
  8. Put the tissue paper and craft stick in the box.
Use the leftover cardstock and make a matching card for your mother's day card!
Recycle and reuse as needed :-)

Don't forget to order the Stampin' Up items you need in my online store; check your "wish list" for other items you might want too (check the retiring list of products as well)!

Fresh and pretty color combos for spring a la Stampin Up and butterflies

I am loving this new spring color combo - pink, orange, and gold!!  I would never have thought to use it myself, but after seeing some stamping projects using it, I can't wait to try it out - here are a few more projects from Stampin Up based on this color scheme:

Here is the Swallowtail butterfly card we made in this month's card making class - the top layer is swiped with Illuminate to make it glimmer.  You can buy the supplies to make any of this yummy projects in my online store!

More pics of the other class cards coming this week, so please check back - thanks!

Cards from April's monthly class - a fancy dress, cakes, and swallowtail butterfly Stampin Up

Wanted to share the pictures of the 3 cards we made in this month's class - A fancy dress, birthday cakes, and a swallowtail butterfly using all Stampin' Up products that you can buy in my online store, or order from me.

After stamping the butterfly in read red, we sponged more mustard in the center of it - my sponging was a little heavy and I thought one of the ladies' cards that the yellow was sponged on much lighter looked perfect.  We swiped the butterfly with the Illuminate glimmer pad before attaching in onto the black cardstock - it added just the right amount of sparkle like a real butterfly~!

Baker's twine was threaded through a wooden button that matched the more mustard and black cardstock, and then attached with mini-glue dots over the greeting that was on a "flag."

This card is loosely based on the triple time stamping technique, maybe called "double time?"  I think Meg Loven calls it "double stamp."

I can't seem to get enough of the dress framelits and all the fun pretty variations using it, so when I saw Lee Ann Greff's video that gave instructions on how to fold the doily for the skirt and then make a lace bodice out of a doily too, I knew I had to try it out with the light blue tulle I had.  Bashful blue and pretty in pink inks were used.

The tulle was cut into 6" long strips and I used red sticky tape to attach 2 on the backside of the skirt; then just trimmed it down.

A mini-greeting was made for the corner and you can see a closeup of the tulle, framelit in back of the dress, and embossing on the white cardstock.

I used a little paper flower and tapped it on the bashful blue inkpad, then tapped it on the pretty in pink inkpad to fill in the white areas.  It dried quickly, so then I could attach a pearl in the center and mini-glue dots to the scalloped lace ribbon.  This ribbon is reversible so it offered more choices - I really have to use this ribbon more!!

The birthday cake card I saw on Stampin Up's page of ideas for demonstrators - when you  join as a demonstrator you get access to the password protected pages for demonstrators, where there are tons of cards, suggestions, forums, and ideas from other demonstrators all over the world!  I am running a special joining offer if you join my team for $99 - you get to choose either the Stampin Up trimmer or a stamp set of your choice as a joining gift....plus you get my monthly cards FREE!

The designer series paper used for this card was Patio Party for $10.95 you get 12 sheets - 2 each of 6 designs.  What is great about some of Stampin' Up's designer paper is that you can just cut out the pictures on them and make cards with just that!  The cakes, strips of flags and butterflies, as well as the background were used from patio party.  We also used the new photopolymer stamp set for the flag banner - these new stamps give you sharp images and good color!

If you would like one of these cards free, when you place an order with me, just let me know which one you want for your free card, OK?  Or if you just have to have your own set of 3 cards featured in my monthly cardmaking classes, join my team as a demonstrator ($99) and you will get them free each month!

Color Q challenge and Paper Craft Crew card challenge combo SA-WEET

I decided to combine two challenges this week!  For my colors I knew I wanted to use some type of tan/beige color (maybe because the nude nail colors are sooo cool) so found a color inspiration using this shade at this past week's ColourQ Challenge #184.  It comes from a Fendi 2 Jours 3D Vitello Colorblock Medium Tote Bag from Neiman Marcus - we all love handbags, purses and tote bags, don't we!?!   It sure is fun to look at all the beautiful things at Neiman Marcus and get our daily drool in lol...

I used these colors for my weekly Paper Craft Crew #38 card sketch challenge and made up this card using Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio - I was in a frilly spring feminine mode!  It definitely was challenging to try and use the black and gray to make a feminine card, but I think it came out really "sa-weet!"

I found that using two different challenges made me think in a different fashion with My Digital Studio - using the old brain to come up with new ways to use some familiar crafting items!

You can download My Digital Studio at my Stampin' Up online store and try it out for FREE for 30 days.

Check back later this week to read about this week's Paper Craft Crew card challenge and see the other cards the design team comes up with, OK??
