Spring Fling 2011 in AZ - some pics

I went to a stamping event last month, and made some beautiful projects I wanted to share with you!!  I have been dying to make a cupcake with the Stampin' Up products, and finally got to do it at this event!!  We used the striped grosgrain ribbon and crochet lace trim, with a button on the top - doesn't it look yummy?!  And below it is a flower made from Stampin' Up's Fun Flower diecut and a vintage trinket key - which I promptly put at the top of my mini-tree.  Here are some more pictures of them:

We made a cupcake holder box to put the cupcake in,

Clock cards variation; furbaby at dog agility class

I made up a couple more of those clock cards that I posted last week for a swap to mail out. I used seam binding ribbon instead of the polyester twill and a retired Stampin' Up designer paper for the clock face....Also I used pacific point ink to clear emboss the clock face and edge the scallop circle behind the clock with. This color worked well with this designer paper I thought...
Here is the clock card I made and posted before, so you can see the difference.

I like all of them!  What do you think?

I have another cute furbaby picture to share with you - I took this pic with my cell phone while we were at last month's private dog agility lesson - I was sitting behind our doggy crate taking notes, while my husband and our teacher were out by the agility course obstacles talking....our furbaby Inu was in the crate....I heard all the scratching scritching noise she was making inside it, but she soon stopped.

Then I heard my husband and our teacher laughing - and our teacher said, "Now that's a picture!"  Seems that our furbaby Inu had managed to unzip part of her crate door and stuck her head out, but she knew she should stay in it!  What a good little dog she was (kinda of!)  Don't you just love the funny stuff your pets do?!

Revamped Greeting Card Kids card into birthday gift set

I wanted to use this adorable Greeting Card Kids card to send to a young lady who was turning 17 on the 17th....so needed to revamp it from Valentine's Day to Birthday, while incorporating it into her gift set.  Also had a blingy heart necklace to decorate, so of course, it all had to match in colors a teen girl would like...I knew her favorite color was purple -

Pompom girl cards, or cutting up the pompom trim

I made these cards to swap at the Spring Fling I went to last weekend - I am calling them my pompom girls! When I first laid eyes on Stampin' Up's new pompom trim, I knew I wanted to cut some of those cute pompoms apart and use them!

See how cute and fluffy they can be on a card?

Cupcake stamps set and matching punch; spinner card too

This weekend was wet, wet, wet, windy, dreary, and cold, but I had fun at a stamping class hosted by Diana Gibbs - we used Stampin' Up's new cupcake stamp set and matching punch, and the spinner stamp set.  These cupcakes look good enough to eat!  And since the punch matches the stamps exactly, it is sooo easy to stamp and punch out a lot of them!

Everyone loves cupcakes, right?  Reminds me of that show Cupcake Wars, where they make cupcakes out of all sorts of different foods and flavors you wouldn't expect in a cupcake....like sauerkraut and beer!?!  And see the other yummy cupcake product we made - it is a clothespin with 3 mini-bars of chocolate!  That was a real challenge...not eating the chocolates while working on it!  lol

Our furbaby didn't much like the rain...she didn't even want to spend much time in the covered porch - here she is at the sliding glass doors waiting to be let back in!

I will be posting some more pictures this week of the stamping event I went to last weekend, and the birthday gift set I made up and just mailed out.  Hope you had a good weekend, and stop by this week to see what else I've been making!!

My first blog award "Stylish Blogger Award - My Etsy Shop

I received my very first blog award from one of my SU team mates - Kathy Elliot!!  (she has beautiful projects on her blog:  http://jkelliotcrafts.blogspot.com/) as well as a beautiful furbaby!

I was so honored and pleased to get it....seems that when you get this award, you are supposed to give 8 random things about yourself, and then pass the award onto 8 other bloggers that inspire you in some fashion or another.  Hmmm, 8 things....here goes...

1.  I used to compete in roller skating - figures and dance (loved it - have a collection of awards that I still keep!)

2.  I have taken figure ice skating tests and was working on my Gold ice dance tests when I was last taking private lessons (loved that too)

3.  I competed in country-western couples dances for 5 years with my now hubby - that's how we met - we were both line dancing....

4.  I have a "red" dog that we are working with so we can do some dog agility competitions with (they call them "trials")

5.  I am a professional seamstress, but not done much of that lately....mostly sewing repairs (boring) But I  loved designing and making my skating outfits, as well as outfits for others

6.  I love dolls and paper dolls (have a little collection of those)

7.  I took private hula, flamenco, and Japanese dancing lessons...been in shows too

8.  I was a personal fitness trainer for "surf and turf," which meant I coached people for both aquatic and land fitness programs.

Gee, now that I have gotten started, it's actually kinda hard to limit it to only 8 things!  So has anyone else felt that way??  I will have to put together a list of 8 bloggers I will be sending the Stylish Blogger Award....

In the meantime, check out the new cards I just added to my Etsy shop by clicking on the Etsy link on the left, OK?  Sleep sweet!

Shabby chic room in pink and brown-I want it!

Chandeliers and more!!
I went to check out a different beauty salon, and when I walked in the door I was totally awed by its decorations.!...it was all shabby chic, which I LOVE....It was so nicely done that I felt like I was transformed to a different place!!
This is my vision of what I want my craft and sewing room to feel like - that you are in a special space and transported to a "dream!" After I got over having my breath taken away, the lady I met with allowed me to take pictures of her room with my cell phone. And she told me how she put together her room decorations in pinks and browns.
So I have to share that with you - even though the photo quality is only as good as the cell phone camera, I think you can see why I fell in love with it - my inspiration to keep on working on this theme for my own creative space is greatly inspired!

The chandelier was decorated with mini-shades, feathers, and hung with beads!  When I saw this picture on her wall, I had to ask her if I could touch it!  She told me she had dipped plastic flowers in plaster, and attached it to a canvas covered with paint and plaster....it looked like a very expensive picture!!

These is the cute business card holder she decorated - a pair of cream colored shoes, a mini-tiara, silk flower with bling, and a lipstick pen....

Up on her shelf she had some more beautiful pink and brown shabby chic items she had put together.

And she hung two wire chairs and and old book from the ceiling with picture hanging wire.  You can also see the tops of 2 other pictures on her wall - the one on the right was a chandelier picture that she had hung lots of blingey earrings on.  The one on the right had keys and crowns in it.  Yeah, I should have gotten full pics of those....

Here is the dresser she decorated for her room - and a pretty pink shabby chic box is to the right of it.  I would have liked to have taken many more pictures, but I didn't want to seem pushy - I was asking lots of questions too!

Even the bathroom was decorated in shabby chic - I took some pictures of the wall hanging and other dresser!  Look at how cool the wall is too....

I love how she used the tall ceilings and wall moldings - and see what is on the top of her cabinets?  A ballerina dress, fancy slippers, mirror, flowers, and a gorgeous purse!!
Can you imagine coming to work every day to a room like this?  I need to work more on getting my craft/sewing room done!

So what is your daily space theme decorated in?Thanks for stopping in!
And Happy Valentines Day too!!

A Sense of Time - an embossed clock

I combined a Sudsol color challenge (blue, green, and white) and a swap theme of "clocks" in this card - The colors I used were Stampin' Up's marina mist, baja breeze, and pear pizzaz.  All items were current Stampin' Up - Here is a picture of how the card was put together...

Red glimmer paper in a masculine card! And a glimmer brad too

I had just received my Stampin' Up order with a package of the new red glimmer paper (only $3.95 for 2 big 12 x 12 sheets) and wanted to use it on a masculine birthday card for my son....I haven't seen many masculine cards for a 22 yr old male with the red glimmer paper, or much bling either....and I had some glimmer brads I wanted to use (a round box of them is $4.95)....So this card was a challenge....I played with them and this is a closeup of part of the masculine birthday card I made...

My son has always loved airplanes so I just had to use this Plane & Simple stamp set

Butterfly Pompom Card - get a free one with your order

Last night I needed to make some swap cards and also a card for a Sudsol design challenge that had a butterfly, and to use items from the Stampin' Up Occasions mini-catalog and SaleABration flyer.  I was inspired from a recent class hosted by Diana Gibbs, and just had to make my own version of one of those cards.
The Stampin' Up items I used, which are shown above, were:
Confetti cream cardstock $9.50
Crumbcake seam binding ribbon $6.95
Daffodil delight pompom trim $6.50
Nature walk clear stamp set $18.95
Botanical Gazette designer series paper $9.95 (all paper is reversible!)
Framed tulip embossing folder $7.95
The are the prices for "preferred" which means you pay these prices if you buy them from a demonstrator (like me!!)

So here are 4 of the cards

Wooden block (Decor Elements) Photo Cube with matching card

Here is another one of those cute photo cubes I made last week - when my friend saw the other set I made, I could tell she wanted one for herself too....so since she has her birthday this weekend, I made one for her, and decorated a swap card I had to match.  It is great that the Stampin' Up wooden blocks come in sets of 4, so I had 2 extra.  I am going to order some more to have on hand!

I used the Stampin' Up daisy diecut set
